According to a newspaper article in part, dated June 10, 1955, "Five persons were found dead Tuesday afternoon at the Jack Alexander Ranch nine miles north of Cora, four of them apparently shot to death by Lawrence William (Jack) Alexander, who then took his own life with the 30.06 rifle with which he shot the others.  Besides Alexander, the other victims of the tragedy were his wife, Patricia Margaret; his six-year-old daughter, Grace Ann, and Mrs. Alexander's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Xavier O'Brien of Miami, Fla. ... Mr. Alexander is survived by three brothers, Lloyd C. and Earl E. of Pinedale, and Charles (Tige) of Cora; and three sisters, Gloria (Mrs. Bob Lozier Jr.) of Cora, Thelma (Mrs. Bill Allen) of Opportunity, Wash., and Helen (Mrs. Art Model [sic] ) of Lyman, Wyo.  Mrs. Richard J. Dolan of Miami, Fla., is the sole survivor of her sister, Mrs. Alexander, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. O'Brien.  She arrived in Pinedale Thursday morning.  Mr. O'Brien was a native of New York, a retired railroad man.  He was 68 years old; Mrs. O'Brien was 71.  They had been spending summers at the Alexander ranch, and each winter went to Miami to be with their other daughter.  They arrived here about three weeks ago." - contributed by Gloria Alexander Lozier.
