Story about William Dan "Bud" Alexander as told by son, Kip Alexander.  In the middle of winter at the Frank place, one of the cows got down and stuck in the water hole with her hind feet. Bud had a big old horse we called Charger. After saddling his horse, and getting into place in front of the cow, the ground understandably frozen and slick, Bud put the rope around the cow's neck, and he began to pull. The horse started to strain, the short latigo broke, and the horse shot out from under the saddle, leaving Bud in place, sitting in front of the cow, in his saddle, still dallied-up with rope tight. Kip said "Pull her up a little more," and Bud's reply was "Oh shut-up you always got your big mouth open."

Story about William J. Alexander as told by his daughter Ruth "Lolly" Alexander Bryant.  When she was a child she saw her Dad trying to get a calf across the creek.  Seems he straddled the calf to pull/push him along.  When the calf lurched, he took a dive.  Of course not a one dared laugh and they rode in silence moving the cows over to the lane by the store.  When he could see that they were lined out and going, he allowed as how he would go home and change out of his bathing suit.  He'd cooled off and they were allowed their laugh.
