"The Little Girl She Used to Be," by Grace Imogen Gish.  "She comes, love crowned, to greet me now, When womanhood and wifehood meet; Hope's hallowed light upon her brow, Her lips grown strangely, gently sweet; She does not know I only see The little girl she used to be.  With arm in mine, she softly tells Of coming joy in her new life; Her eyes are shrines where calm truth dwells, Her cheeks are roses, color rife; Yet somehow still I seem to see The little girl she used to be.  Oh, magic years, that gave each day Some greater charm, some lovelier grace, Until you lured the child away and left a maiden in her place.  You are well vanquished!  Still I see The little girl she used to be!" -From the personal papers of Frank Alexander Contributed by Ruth "Lolly" Alexander Bryant.

Letter from S.C. Pirie to Frank Alexander, dated June 7, 1921.  "Dear Frank:  Although I think you will remember me, it is a long time since I have written you or heard from you.  I think you will recollect that you and Charlie gave my brother and myself a fine hunt for elk and antelope quite a number of years ago.  I would like to make another trip out to that country of yours, but hardly see my way clear to go away for the present, although if it turns out to be possible, you are likely to hear from me any time I can make it fit in.  My twenty year old boy is at college and of course will be free for the summer.  He wants to get out doors and is not only willing to work, but is even quite anxious to.  One of his objects in this is to increase his weight and strength, although he is naturally fairly husky.  I rather suspect that he has in mind further activities in some branches of the college athletic sports, at which he has been somewhat successful already.  It would not be fitting for me to sound his praises, but he is rather an agreeable sort of fellow, well able to accommodate himself to whatever circumstances he is placed in, and more inclined to cooperate than oppose.  How would you like to have such a fellow around for a month or two, and do you think you could keep him employed to your own satisfaction?  I know of no reason why he could not be made useful and I believe it would be his desire to put in his time to your advantage, without being too particular as to what you direct for occupying his time or how you changed it as varying circumstances would warrant.  If you can propose or suggest anything in this line, perhaps in more than one way, I will be glad to hear from you with as little delay as possible, and hope to have at least some kind of word from you promptly, even if it is only to tell me that you are well and that things are going along nicely with you.  I hope such is the case and you have herewith my best regards and wishes.  Yours very truly, S. C. Pirie.  P.S. Best regards to Charlie.  Please address you {sic} reply, c/o Carson Pirie Scott & Co., 404 Fourth Ave, New York, N.Y." -From the personal papers of Frank Alexander Contributed by Ruth "Lolly" Alexander Bryant.
